My AI Skill Lab

Practical AI Cohort

Build tools for the way you work.

And learn to train AI to work with you and for you, a skill that lasts.

We build through plain conversation, with no coding or prompt-engineering jargon, and personal help on every step.

There's artificial intelligence.
There's no artificial wisdom.
Smart machines need wise humans.

Across four weekly sessions, you'll build working tools for your real work: a schedule optimizer, a study companion, a decision-making partner, an inbox sorter, and standing rules Claude follows every time. The builds are practice. The skill you take with you keeps working as the tools change.

Why this cohort

The foundation outlasts the tools

An AI prompt is like a recipe. A good cook understands why the recipe works and knows the kitchen. Good prompts help, but understanding why they work is better.

Great leadership runs on the right questions and clear communication. The habits that make a thoughtful leader make us sharper with AI.

Keep the conversation going, back and forth, as if talking with a capable assistant. Both stay curious, and both contribute. Each round gets sharper than the last.

Smart machines need wise humans. That's what this cohort teaches.

What we'll build

By the end of four weeks, you'll have built personalized tools you can return to without starting from scratch, and the method to build more.

Schedule optimizer

Plans around your priorities and the way you work.

Study companion

Explores Scripture with you, the way you want to study, or adapts to another text you want to study.

Decision-making partner

Helps you think through decisions using your values and the voices you trust.

Email in your words

Drafts the reply you have been putting off, in language that sounds like you wrote it.

Rules it follows every time

Set your standing instructions once, so you stop repeating yourself at the start of every session.

About J Brad Britton

I've spent 40+ years in leadership and sales development. My deepest lessons in listening, though, came from my son Sam. Sam has autism and is an unreliable speaker. He communicates by spelling.

Learning to truly hear him taught me more about listening than any training ever could, and it's the same skill that makes me a better partner with people and with AI. He and I wrote about it in our book, Real Words with Sam.

What makes my work distinctive is the practical side: systems, processes, and asking better questions. That's how I've always worked with people, and it's how I work with AI. Asking questions is the not-so-secret ingredient, with people and with AI.

This cohort is built for conversation. We learn together, we build together, and we walk away with tools that work the way we think. If you value practical wisdom over hype, you'll feel at home here.

This cohort is designed for executives, sales leaders, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders who have already used AI for searches, writing, planning, or everyday questions, and are ready to move beyond one-off answers.

FAQ

Questions people ask

I'm not technical. Will I be able to do this?

Yes. We're not looking for tech experts, AI gurus, or prompt engineers. The whole approach is conversational: we talk to Claude the way we'd talk to an assistant. If you can have a conversation, you can build these tools.

I already use Claude (or ChatGPT, or another tool). Why this cohort?

This teaches what's beyond chatting: building Claude Skills that automate the work you do every day. By the end you'll have working tools you actually use, plus the method to keep building more.

Do I need a paid Claude account? What does it cost?

Yes. The cohort requires a paid Claude account. Claude Pro is $20 a month and gets you started. We'll cover the options in the setup call so you can pick what fits your usage.

How much time will this take outside the four sessions?

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes a week between sessions to build, experiment, and bring questions to the next one. The more you put in, the more you walk away with.

Has this run before? What's my risk?

The founding cohort ran in August and finished with working tools. Your safety net is the one they had: finish the first two sessions, and if it isn't helping you build practical AI tools for the way you work, email me for a full refund.

The four elements

Context, Intent, Constraints, Conversation

The quality of what AI gives back comes down to four elements: Context, Intent, Constraints, and Conversation. AI handles the intelligence, but we bring the wisdom.

Context

Why it matters: Context can change an answer quickly. When AI knows who you are and what you're working on, its answers stop sounding generic and start sounding like they were written for you.

Try this week: Before your next request, give AI the background: who you are, what you're working on, and who the result is for. Then make your ask.

Intent

Why it matters: When AI knows what the result is for and what a good version looks like, it works toward your goal instead of a vague middle.

Try this week: On your next ask, add one line about why you need it and what a good result looks like.

Constraints

Why it matters: Constraints are the boundaries that sharpen the result: what to avoid, what must be included, and limits like length, deadline, budget, or format.

Try this week: During your next ask, name one or two limits up front. What must it include? What should it stay away from? How long should it be?

Conversation

Why it matters: Conversation can begin before AI does the work. Invite it to ask clarifying questions first so it understands your situation, desired outcome, and boundaries.

Try this week: Before your next request, add: "Ask me clarifying questions one at a time. Only ask the ones that would genuinely improve the result, usually three to six. Don't start the work until you have what you need."

Who's behind this

My son Sam taught me to listen.

He has autism and is an unreliable speaker, and he communicates by spelling. Learning to truly hear him taught me more about listening than four decades of leadership work ever did, and that same skill is what changes the work with AI: the more context and care we bring, the more the results sound like us. The four elements you just read grow straight out of it. Sam and I wrote about the rest in our book, Real Words with Sam.
